6 Easy Single Person Meals to Prepare at Home

Sometimes, you just want to cook easy single-person meals, whether for you or one guest. Some take more effort or time, but many can be done relatively quickly. These can be delicious and healthy as well. They do not need to have a lot of fuss involved much of the time.

Certain dishes can be cooked the way you want. You don’t have to follow a recipe exactly. You can do stuff on your own, and it will be fine, so do not worry too much about it. Let’s take a look at some of these single-person meals.

Meal #1: Fried Rice

You can cook fried rice either with meat or just veggies. You can also use eggs in it. If you are vegan, you can still make fried rice without the meat or eggs, which will be fine. This is quite simple to do. You can do this in a couple of ways. You can stir fry the veggies or whatever ingredients you wish to use while the rice is cooking in the rice cooker. After you finish with the stir fry, you can dump the contents on the cooked rice and mix it up nicely, so the flavour is spread all around.

You could also stir fry the ingredients along with the rice. If you like it a little spicy or add that exotic flavour, you could mix in some biryani paste to give it that extra kick and flavour. You could either crack an egg while cooking it or hard boil an egg, slice it up, and place it on top of the cooked dish. You could also add soy sauce instead of salt. Mmmmm!

Meal #2: Mee Goreng

This is quite a popular dish in some Southeast Asian countries. It’s thick yellow noodles, and you can use whatever vegetables and meat you want and fry it all together, and you are done. Again, you could crack an egg in it or hard boil it and leave it on the side. Many people use tofu in this dish. You can add potatoes and tomatoes, some sweet soy sauce, or even plain soy sauce.

Normally, a half slice of lime is added to the plate, so you squeeze the lime onto the noodles and mix it just before you eat. It’s easy to do and is yummy. Again, you can use meat, but you can leave it out if you are vegetarian or vegan. Sometimes, slices of cucumber, onion and tomato are placed on the side of the plate.

Meal #3: Spaghetti

Perhaps the easiest dish in the world to do. Just boil the spaghetti and open a bottle or can of your favourite spaghetti sauce, and pour it over the spaghetti. You can add grated cheese or parmesan cheese if you wish. It’s easy, simple and quick and does not require much work.

Meal #4: Chili On Rice

This is another quick and effortless meal you can make for one person, like spaghetti. All you have to do is cook the rice. You can get a can of your favourite chilli (some have meat and some do not). Choose the one you want. Heat the chilli and just pour it on top of the cooked rice.

This is good food, and it can be a little zesty. Of course, you can make your chilli, but the idea is to keep things as simple as possible, so just go to the shop and get your favourite can.

Meal #5: Meal Delivery Services

Another idea for a simple meal for one is to call a meal delivery service. Meal delivery services are specialists in what they do. They have a variety of dishes for one person. This is probably the easiest option since you do not even have to do anything. It is all taken care of for you. You can pick many healthy choices from meal delivery providers like Meels.

You can also tell them if you have any nut allergies or need something low in sodium. All you have to do is pick up the phone and call them, and it will be delivered to your home. Go ahead. Why not treat yourself (or a guest)? Simple, healthy and effective, with many choices.

Meal #6: Egg, Tomato & Avocado Toast

This does not have to be a breakfast recipe. You can have this any time you want. Slice a couple of cherry tomatoes. Mash the avocado and add some salt. Toast a couple of slices of bread. Then fry an egg, making sure it is sunny side up, but it is entirely up to you. Spread the avocado on both slices, add the tomatoes and top the whole thing with the egg.

You can try many more easy single-person meals, such as avocado Alfredo with zucchini noodles, lasagna, samosa pie with minted yogurt, etc. What are you waiting for? Get to it!
